Lewiston's older streets run down toward the water under big shade trees, and the yards along them are small, square and looked at by everyone walking to Academy Park. Jon J Enterprise mows and trims those village lots on a steady schedule, edging the sidewalks so the grass stops in a line and clipping in around porch posts, hedges and hydrants. Shade lawns are their own puzzle — thinner, slower, quick to scalp — so they get cut higher and handled gently. The spring round pulls winter's litter off the beds and the turf; the autumn round takes the leaves before they mat and sour the grass. Small yards, done right, make a whole block look cared for.
