About Ol' Smokey Trucking and Excavation

Route 5 runs straight out of Le Roy through cornfield and hedgerow, and in a January wind that straightness turns into a problem — nothing out there slows the snow down. Ol' Smokey Trucking and Excavation plows into that open country: driveways and lots cleared, banks shoved back, walkways shoveled, sand and salt where the glaze forms. Winter in this part of Genesee County can go from clear to whiteout between one farm and the next. Opening a lane before the morning haul is quiet work, done mostly in the dark, and it holds the day together for everyone who follows. When headlights find bare pavement, that is the whole thing.
