Saturday morning on the midtown blocks off Broadway: radios in open windows, heat already stacking up, mowers running in three yards at once. El Amigo Landscaping is one of them, keeping Kingston lawns cut on schedule through the long green stretch — mowing, string trimming, edges along the sidewalk and drive, clippings blown clear before the truck rolls on. Spring starts with a rake-out and a first cut; November ends with leaves gone off the grass. In August, when everything wants to turn brown, the height comes up and the color holds. A block looks better when the yards are keeping pace with each other.
