A nor'easter announces itself here by taking the Shawangunks first, then the far side of the road. Bonesteel Brothers watch that and go out into it: plowing Kingston driveways and lots, opening walkways, salting and sanding the ice that follows every thaw. Storms keep no office hours, so the work runs nights and weekends and whatever the sky decides — then again at daybreak for the drift that arrived after. What they are after is plain: a way out, cleared to the pavement, before anyone needs it. Then back in the truck, on to the next one.
