The Cutting Edge

About The Cutting Edge

Under the causeway lights the West Branch Reservoir turns black and steaming on the coldest nights, and Kent's drifting starts on the open roads beside it. The Cutting Edge is a snow removal outfit built for exactly those hours — plowing driveways and lots while the wind rebuilds whatever was cleared twenty minutes ago. The name is a promise about a blade, and the proof is a bare straight line where a foot of snow had been. Nothing about a storm is orderly, so the order has to be carried in. When the plow lifts and the truck rolls on, one more household in Kent wakes up to an ordinary morning.
