July on the west side of Jamestown: heat lying still between the houses, narrow tree lawns, hedges wanting an inch off the top. Reyes Landscaping moves through it in the cooler end of the day, mowing, trimming the strip between sidewalk and curb, cutting hedges square, carrying the clippings away. The small spaces are the real test — a side yard four feet wide, the corner behind the porch steps — and they get the same attention as the front.
