October takes the hills around Bergman Park down to bare branches in about three good windy days, and every yard in the city inherits the difference. Community Leaf Lawn and Snow meets that head-on, gathering leaves off turf and beds and hauling them out, cutting the final mows short for winter, sweeping the last wet drift of them off the walks. Earlier in the year it is steady mowing, trimming and edging, week over week, through the long green months. Later it is plow blades and shovels and salt on the walk before the first tracks of the morning. One name, three seasons of showing up.
