Down on the flats where the Cayuga Inlet runs out to the lake, the ground is level and the wind has room to move. Ithaca Construction mows and maintains lawns across that low end of town and up into the neighborhoods behind it — the long open stretches, the roadside strips, the yards that want a full pass rather than a careful nibble. Work starts when the ground firms up in April and runs until the grass finally quits in November. In between it is mowing on a schedule, trimming what the deck cannot reach, edging the drive, and leaving the site swept behind you. There is a plain pleasure in a big lawn cut in even lines with nothing left behind.
