September empties the bayfront parks in Islip and leaves the water flat and the light thin and clean, and still the growing season has two good months left in it. ParkView Landscaping keeps working through them — mowing while the grass slows, edging the walks, trimming the fence lines, then moving into leaf work as the oaks begin to let go. Fall on this shore is long and mild, and a lawn that keeps getting cut into November comes out of the winter well ahead. The last cut of the year is a small ceremony: the yard left level and clear, nothing waiting around to be dealt with.
