The work here is plowing and shoveling on a grid of short driveways and narrow side streets, where a truck has to turn tight and a shovel has to finish what the blade starts. Through the night of a storm the routine repeats: open the driveway, clear the walk, take the steps down to bare concrete, then come back with salt when the wind picks the drifts up and puts them right back. There's real pride in what first light shows — black asphalt end to end, a clean path to the door, a car that backs out without a single spin. Between storms it's pre-treating, watching the coast, and keeping the phone on for the next band coming up the water.
