About Dirty Gloves
Snow reaches Hyde Park off the river in gray curtains, and Route 9 goes quiet in a way it never does otherwise. Dirty Gloves is up and moving in that hour — plowing driveways, shoveling walks and steps, opening a path to the door, salting where the day's runoff freezes back at dusk. Hudson Valley cold carries a wet weight to it; snow packs at the end of a drive and sets like stone if nobody gets there first. Somebody gets there first. By the time the kettle is on, the drive runs clear to the road and the walkway is bare down to the concrete.
