Hopewell Junction took its name from rail lines meeting, and the ground still rises and falls around Sylvan Lake as though it were laid out by water rather than by anybody's plan. Summit Hill Landscaping does the lawn care on those slopes, mowing, edging, trimming, and clearing beds and turf in the spring and again once the leaves come down. A sloped lawn asks more than a flat one: the mower runs across the grade, the trimmer finishes what it cannot reach, and the cut has to hold through the next hard rain. Late September is the best of it, when the grass has gone deep green again and the lake below turns glassy in the evenings. Level, even color on uneven ground is the whole aim.
