Honeoye Lake makes its own weather, and on the coldest mornings a low fog lies on the water while the Bristol Hills above it stand perfectly clear. Creekside Contracting runs snow removal through that country, plowing the camp roads along the shore, opening the steep drives that climb toward Harriet Hollister, and salting the flats near the outlet where meltwater refreezes overnight. Lakeside driveways drift differently than hillside ones, and the route is planned around exactly that. Opening a cottage road means someone can get down to the water, or out to the highway, without a second thought about it. The lake keeps sending squalls up the valley, and the plows keep answering.
