About Greenway Tree and Lawn Care Inc

The ground under Haverstraw is clay — the same red-brown seam that once fed brickyards up and down this stretch of riverbank. Greenway Tree and Lawn Care Inc reads that soil every week of the growing season, mowing, trimming and edging the lawns that sit on top of it. Clay holds water long and hard, so a lawn here rewards patience: an even cut, a crisp border, leaves hauled off before November mats them down. There is honest pleasure in stepping back at the end of an afternoon and seeing a yard sit square and finished on its slope. This town has been making things out of its own earth for a very long time, and a well-kept lawn is one more of them.
