Freight has been rolling through Maybrook's yard for generations, and December weather here does not wait on anybody's schedule. When it starts, the trucks go out: driveways plowed, lots opened, walkways shoveled, salt and sand down on the slick spot at the bottom of a grade. The first storm is always the test — everything gets checked, loaded and ready before the flakes turn serious. A drive cleared wide to its real edges saves somebody a week of scraping, and that is the standard held to here. Snow work, straight through until the road bares off in March.
