Hadley is where the Sacandaga meets the Hudson, and the old bow bridge hangs above Rockwell Falls like a piece of iron lace. Back-Country Lawn Care LLC mows the yards set above those rivers — camp lots, hillside places on the road up Hadley Mountain, village lawns tucked into the space between rock and water. The growing season comes short and quick in the southern Adirondacks, so mowing, trimming and edging run tight from May through September, with cleanups at both ends. Grass here grows in whatever gaps the woods allow, and holding those gaps open is most of the work. Rivers on two sides and mountains on the rest: not a bad place to spend a working day.
