Paddy Hill stands above the rest of Greece by just enough to catch the wind, and the wind here comes off open water. Hill services works up and down that ground in both directions of the calendar — mowing, trimming and cleanups through the green months, plowing and salting once the lake sends its share of snow inland. Grade makes both jobs harder: water runs where it likes, snow drifts back in, and a driveway on a pitch has to be taken down to the pavement or it turns to glass by morning. So it gets taken down to the pavement. It is a small pride, and it holds up.
