Northern Wolf

About Northern Wolf

Three in the morning, wind off Lake Ontario, and Granby is under a squall that has not eased since dark. Northern Wolf is out in it — plowing driveways, cutting a path to the door, laying salt where the walk has turned to glass. Lake-effect here does not so much fall as accumulate, quietly, foot after foot, on the nights nobody else is awake for. The measure of the job is simple: the car backs out at seven and nothing stands in its way. Granby, Fulton, Volney and the roads around Granby Center all get cleared.
