Four in the morning on Warren Street, and the streetlights are doing that orange thing they do through falling snow. Glens Falls has always been a working town — limestone, paper, the falls on the Hudson that started all of it — and winter here is simply another shift. Blue Collar Property Maintenance takes that shift: plowing, clearing drives and sidewalks, shoveling steps, going back over the ridge the city plow leaves across the apron. The point is never the storm, it is the seven o'clock afterward, when a driveway is pavement again and a day can begin on time. There is pride in being the reason nobody had to think about the snow at all.
