Midsummer in the south of the county, out toward Darien and Corfu, the heat sits on the back roads well past supper and the mowing gets done in the cool of the evening. Da Pinchy's Lawn Care LLC. is out in those hours, cutting grass, trimming around posts and mailboxes, edging the walks, and clearing yards when the season opens and when it closes. Grass in July wants cutting twice a week and will say so plainly; the answer is showing up. A lawn kept on rhythm through the hot stretch comes out of August still green rather than scorched and shaggy. That is the whole ambition, and it is a good one.
