Gansevoort sits between two moods of country: the Hudson running east toward Schuylerville, and the first low ridges of the Palmertown hills climbing away west. Saratoga Lawn and Landscape works the ground in between all twelve months — mowing, edging, trimming and seasonal cleanups while the grass is growing, then plowing, shoveling and de-icing once it is not. Winter arrives with force this far up the valley, and a property cared for in July is easier to keep open in January because someone already knows every curb, culvert and soft edge on it. The best days are the ones nobody notices: a clean lawn on a Friday in June, a bare driveway on a Tuesday in February. That steadiness is what Gansevoort and the towns near it can count on.
