Village lawns in Clyde sit in tight rows along the towpath streets while out on the muck-land roads the yards stretch long beside the fields. Both get the same treatment: mowing on a set rhythm, trimming around porch skirts and gate posts, edging that keeps a walk legible from the curb. Autumn cleanup runs late here, with marsh wind carrying leaves in from everywhere at once. A mown lawn beside slow water is a good sight, and keeping it that way is the point.
