About Carter Lawn Care

There are two clocks running in Fort Edward. One starts in April, when the river flats dry out enough to walk on; the other starts at three in the morning in January, when plow lights swing across a driveway before anyone inside has stirred. Carter Lawn Care runs both — mowing, trimming, edging and seasonal cleanups through the green months, then plowing, cleared walks and salted footing once the ground goes hard. Across the water Rogers Island sits low and white, and the village wakes up to find its way out already open. It is a small thing to hand somebody: a clear drive, a dry step, a yard that looks looked-after. Doing it well week after week is the entire job.
