Fog comes off Wood Creek early on a summer morning in Fort Ann and burns away by eight, and that hour before it lifts is a fine time to be starting a mower. Adirondack Landworx spends the season on the grass and the ground around it, mowing, string trimming, edging and cleanups, keeping beds and borders in shape while the summer runs its short course. Between the canal flats and the rises toward Route 149 the terrain changes quickly, and so does the way a lawn grows on it. The work rewards patience, a slope cut without scalping, a yard that looks intentional rather than merely tended. By evening the hills around the village have gone blue and another property is squared away.
