The bluffs above the beach at Evangola catch the weather before the rest of Evans does — the September wind, the first hard squall in November, the whole white freight of the lake come January. This is a two-season operation and it runs both halves honestly: mowing, trimming and yard cleanups while the ground is soft, plowing and shoveling once it is not. Lake-effect snow does not arrive politely here; it comes sideways and then comes again an hour later. Getting a driveway open before a household wakes up is a small thing that changes somebody's entire morning. By April the mower is back out and the cycle begins again.
