Out at Wainscott the farm fields run right up to the road, and in October the light comes across them the color of cider. Creative Design Landscapes works the full turn of the East Hampton year: mowing, edging, trimming and cleanups while the ground is willing, then plowing and shoveling once it isn't. Winter here is not long but it can be sudden, a low spinning up off the ocean, a night of wind, and by morning the drives need opening. The pleasure is in the handoff, the last leaf hauled away in November and the first push of white in December, the same properties looked after either way. A yard kept, a route out, and not much fuss made about either one.
