The Hoosic River loops past Eagle Bridge on its way toward the Vermont line, under a covered bridge at Buskirk that has been red as long as anyone can picture it. A&E Landscaping keeps the lawns on these river flats and the ones stepping up into the Taconic hills, with weekly mowing, trimming, edging, mulch in the beds and cleanups when the seasons turn. The valley grows grass thick in the bottomland and thin on the slopes, so a single property can want two different approaches thirty feet apart. The finest moment is the view from the last pass, a hillside lawn cut clean with the painted hills going soft behind it. Come November the leaves are off and the yards are handed over to the frost.
