Allen’s Cutting Edge

About Allen’s Cutting Edge

Catskill Creek runs quick and cold through Durham, and on June mornings the valley fog lifts off the water an hour after everyone else has started their day. Allen's Cutting Edge works the hillside yards where the ground tips toward the creek and a mower has to be coaxed across the slope. Mowing, trimming, edging and seasonal cleanups make up the rounds that keep a Greene County lawn looking tended between the hayfields and the hemlocks. The last pass is the one that counts: stripes running straight to the stone wall, the border along the walk a single clean line. When the maples let go in October, the beds get emptied and the grass goes into winter breathing.
