A Dunkirk Saturday has a soundtrack, and from May to October a good part of it is a mower working its way up a side street. Mike's Mowing keeps a route through those blocks — cut, trim, edge, blow the walks clean, move on — the same order every visit so nothing gets missed and nothing gets rushed. Lawns near the lake grow hard through spring and slow down in August, and the schedule bends with them rather than against them. Cleanups come when the season turns: sticks and matted grass opened up in April, the last of the maples off the lawn in November. Simple work, carried all the way to the curb.
