The West Branch of the Delaware bends through Deposit with the hills leaning in close on both sides, and the work here follows that water. Through the warm months it is mowing, trimming and edging the yards that step down toward the river, where a straight cut line reads clean all the way from the road. Winter turns the same route into plow work, because snow drops into these hollows sideways and settles in to stay. The truck goes out early so a driveway is open and a walkway is cleared before the first cup of coffee has gone cold. Deposit is a small place, and the yards here get known by name rather than by address.
