September is De Witt at its best — Butternut Creek running clear again after the summer, the limestone hills toward Jamesville going gold, lawns recovering everything the August heat took out of them. Court's Lawn Care mows and trims through that stretch and the whole green season before it, working neighborhoods off the boulevard and the quieter streets that back onto the creek. The lawns here are old and thick, and they show a clean pass beautifully: even height, a sharp line at the walk, no clippings left on the drive. Trimming handles the fence lines, the mailbox and the tight ground beside the garage where the deck can't reach. Then the leaf work comes, and the yard goes into the cold months looking every bit as tended as it did in June.
