Squalls come into the Southern Tier sideways, dragged down off the lakes, and Corning can go from wet pavement to a white world in the space of an afternoon. Lewis Lawn and Landscaping is out in that — plowing, shoveling walks, laying salt where shade keeps a driveway slick long after the sun comes back. In the green half of the year those same properties get mowed, trimmed and edged, with cleanups at either end to open the season and close it. There is a real pleasure in the before-and-after of both jobs: a drive cut clean down to the pavement, or a lawn banded in fresh lines out to the property edge.
