Corning sits low along the Chemung with hills standing close on both sides, which means the river fog burns off late and the winter light quits early. Frankel's Yard & Odd Jobs works both halves of that calendar: mowing, trimming and yard cleanups in the growing months, then plowing, shoveling and salting once the ground goes hard. Summer work runs up the steep side streets above Market Street, where a lawn can be three small terraces stacked on top of each other and every one of them needs a trimmer. Winter turns the same properties into a puzzle of narrow drives and short walks that have to be cleared by hand and salted before anyone steps out. Either way the aim is the same — a place you can walk up to without picking your way.
