Where the Sacandaga runs down to meet the Hudson near Hadley, October turns the water the color of the hills standing over it, and the lawns along those banks go gold with fallen leaf. Riverview Landscapes works that season hard — cleanups, the last cuts, borders tidied before the ground stiffens — and mows the same yards all summer, when the river runs low and loud across the rocks. Then comes the snow and a different kind of morning: plow out early, walks cleared, salt down on the shaded stretch that never sees the sun.
