Copenhagen sits on the western shoulder of the Tug Hill, where the Deer River drops through its gorge and the lake-effect off Ontario can bury a village while the sun shines twenty miles east. Snow removal here is nobody's side job — plowing, shoveling walkways and steps, salting and sanding, storm after storm and sometimes twice in one night. When the banks finally go down in April the same properties need mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups, and the grass makes up for lost time in a hurry. Clearing a drive to bare gravel in this snowbelt is a genuine piece of work. So is the first cut of the summer, on ground that spent five months underneath it.
