Just below Cohoes the Mohawk gives itself to the Hudson and the two rivers run on as one — a fitting picture for a business that answers to both halves of the year. J & S companies plows and clears when storms come up the valley, opening driveways and walkways while the streetlights are still burning. Once the ice lets go, the work turns green: weekly mowing, trimming along fences and foundations, cleanups in spring and again in fall. The tools change; the standard does not. Cohoes yards look after their owners as much as the other way around, and keeping them right is worth doing well.
