Noon in July on Sitterly Road, heat standing still over the pavement, the smell of cut grass carrying three houses down — that is the working season for upstate lawn kings. Clifton Park grew out of farmland into streets of deep lots, and all of it is grass that has to be kept. The route runs weekly: decks set to the right height for the heat, trim work close and even, walks and drives blown off before the trailer gate goes back up.
