Clarence is really several places at once: the Hollow with its old storefronts, the Center out among the fields, Harris Hill up on the rise, Swormville off at the eastern corner. Landscaping Clarence takes that whole map as its territory, mowing and trimming and edging from one end of town to the other, then plowing those same driveways when the salt trucks start running. Knowing every turn of a town this spread out is half the job. Summer or winter, the measure stays the same: does the property look cared for from the street? That is the standard the name sets.
