In January the shanties go out onto the ice of Oneida Lake and the cold sits down on Cicero for weeks at a stretch. Hummer Lawn & Snow works the road side of that season, plowing driveways, clearing walkways and salting the icy patches that form and re-form all winter long. Then April thaws the sand plain, the first cut comes early, and the trucks change over to mowing, trimming and steady yard upkeep. A driveway opened before the alarm goes off and a lawn cut even in June are the same job seen from opposite ends of the year. Cicero hands out plenty of both, and both get done.
