For about a week in May, Chazy smells like apple blossom and the orchard rows run out white toward Lake Champlain. Al's Lawn Care opens the season in that week — the first cut, the clearing of winter's litter, edges re-cut along drives and walkways, grass fed while the nights are still cold enough to keep it honest. Then mowing and trimming carry straight through a summer that's brighter and shorter than anything downstate. The lake keeps the air moving here, which is half the reason the yards come in as thick as they do. And when October takes the leaves off in one big handful, the truck is out for that too.
