About Mode

Cedarhurst is a village of small, close lots, and a small lot shows every line you cut. Mode works the block before Central Avenue has finished raising its awnings — mowing, edging along the sidewalk seams, running the trimmer where fence posts and gateposts crowd in. Air off the South Shore keeps the grass soft here well into fall, so the schedule follows what the week actually did rather than what the calendar says. Cleanups come once when the ground finally dries and again when the maples let go all at once. What's left behind is a yard that looks intentional from the sidewalk and from the kitchen window both.
