Saturday morning north of the village, where the road runs toward Athens and the Hudson makes its slow bend, half the county is out working on the yard. RC & Sons, LLC is out there too, doing it for the people who would rather have the day back: mowing, trimming along fences and outbuildings, edging drives, mulching beds, clearing up in spring and again in fall. Open riverside properties catch a lot of sun and a lot of wind, and the grass answers accordingly. A big lawn cut evenly, with the borders held true, looks like order laid gently over a wide place. That is a good thing to leave behind at the end of a morning.
