By mid-May the grass on the Bidwell Parkway medians is ahead of everybody, and the Elmwood front yards are only a step behind. TAJ Landscaping meets that head-on — mowing, edging along the slate walks, trimming where fences and shrubs crowd in, and a spring cleanup that takes the winter out of the beds. Village lots are shallow and public; every cut is on display from the sidewalk, which is a fine reason to make it straight. Then the year turns and the trucks change over to plowing driveways, opening walkways and steps, and salting the ice that lingers in the shade of the tall houses. Same streets, different tools, and always the pleasure of leaving a place better looking than it was that morning.
