Cazenovia Park on a June Saturday — ball fields already claimed, the creek low and loud under the bridge — is the sound of South Buffalo waking up. Cercone Lawn Care is out in it, mowing the yards along those side streets, trimming close to the fences, cutting the edge where the drive meets the lawn. In winter the same streets go quiet and white, and the work becomes plowing, opening walks and salting the steps before daylight. Cleanups arrive twice a year, once for the thaw's leftovers and once for the leaves. Same blocks, different tools, all the way around the year.
