About Canopy Estates
By high summer the old tulip trees along the hamlet's back roads throw shade so deep that the grass beneath them grows on different terms entirely. Canopy Estates works with that rather than against it — mowing at a height thin light can carry, trimming and edging by hand where mowers won't reach, overseeding the bare patches, keeping beds clean out to the drip line. Long Island shade lawns want patience: less water than people expect, more air at the root, a cut that never scalps. Come October the same canopy comes down in a week, and the leaves are cleared before they mat the turf. A shaded yard kept honest through August is one of the quieter pleasures of this town.
