Bronxville is barely a square mile of hills, stone walls and tall oaks, with the Bronx River along its western edge and trains slipping quietly through the middle of the village. Mario Forgione Landscaping works those hillside lots in both directions of the year — mowing, edging, hedge trimming and seasonal cleanups while the ground is soft, plowing, shoveling and salting once it hardens. Lawrence Park asks for patience: narrow drives, roots riding at the surface, grass that grows thin beneath a heavy canopy. A December morning here earns the early start, the drive cleared and treated before the first commuter walks down to the platform. June brings the opposite pleasure — a mown slope, and a crisp edge running the length of the stone wall.
