JC Snow Removal

About JC Snow Removal

A nor'easter comes into Woodlawn quietly and then all at once, and by midnight the parked cars along Katonah Avenue are only shapes. JC Snow Removal is awake for the whole of it, plowing driveways and lots, shoveling stoops and walkways, and breaking the plow ridge at the foot of a drive so nobody has to swing a shovel at it. Salt and de-icer go down last, at the low corners where melt collects and turns to glass. By the time the first bus climbs toward Van Cortlandt Park, the sidewalks are cut clean and the paths to the door are wide enough for two people to pass. Nobody thanks the night for it, but the morning shows the work plainly.
