Emerling Western/Fisher Snow

About Emerling Western/Fisher Snow

At four in the morning a lake-effect band comes off Erie, stalls over the hills, and Route 219 disappears under it by inches an hour. Emerling Western/Fisher Snow works in exactly that, plowing driveways and lots around Boston before the first alarm clock in town goes off. The job is measured in openings: a drive cleared down to pavement, a lot stacked and salted, a walkway somebody can carry groceries across without thinking about it. Snow here doesn't so much fall as arrive by freight, and it will be back the next night. Meeting it again and again, all winter, is the whole of the work — and there's pride in a customer who never once has to wonder whether they can get out.
