Perennial Gardens

About Perennial Gardens

Late May in Bedford is the week when everything happens at once: the old white oaks finally leaf out, the beds fill in overnight, and the grass grows faster than anybody meant it to. Perennial Gardens works right through that surge — cutting, edging, mulching, thinning back whatever is crowding the walk — until the yard settles into its shape for the summer. Evenings out here run long and blue, and a freshly cut lawn holds that light better than almost anything else on a property. Beds get weeded before the weeds get ideas, and the borders stay legible all season. By the time the fireflies come up over the stone wall, the place looks the way its owners picture it in February.
