Route 370 runs west out of Baldwinsville past Memphis and Warners, up and over the low drumlin ridges the ice left behind, and in a January whiteout it becomes one long tunnel of gray. Shute Landscaping Inc. plows out along that road and back through the village again. Snow plowing for drives and lots, walks and entryways cleared by hand, salting and sanding once the surface turns treacherous. Onondaga County keeps its own record for snowfall and makes no apology for it, which turns a plow route into less of a task than a season-long habit. The measure of the work is simple — pavement, visible, before the day begins.
